You’ve probably heard about the importance of cleaning your smile. You’ve may have been told that you should brush and floss every day, and that you should visit your dentist frequently. But with all of the dental care products available, what should you use to clean your smile? More specifically, should you consider a powered toothbrush instead of a manual? Or a water pick instead of traditional floss?

For many people, powered and manual options tend to work about as well, but there are times when powered options are better. For instance, an electric toothbrush may be better for individuals with arthritis or other conditions that make it difficult to use your hands. Also, if you have braces, you may find it easier to clean your mouth thoroughly with a powered brush.

Similarly, please remember to keep your comfort in mind. If you find brushing your teeth with an electric toothbrush, we recommend using it.  For whatever reason, some people simply find an electric toothbrush more comfortable, making them more likely to brush properly.

Again, a water pick might be better than losing for you if you have problems with your hand or struggle to maneuver floss in your mouth. This tool literally sends a stream of water to clean the plaque between your teeth and remove debris. Many people find it easier to reach the back of their smile with a water pick, and some people find this tool refreshing.
